

Reginald Lee Nickerson of Chatham passed away at his home on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the age of 85. Son of the late George W. Nickerson and Norma E. (O’Brien) Nickerson, Reg was an 11th generation direct descendent of Chatham Founder William. He was the loving husband of Gail Kuhns Nickerson.
“Reggie” was a graduate of Chatham High School and the University of Massachusetts where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Business.

Robert Eric Nickerson and his wife Laraine, Raynham, MA. Barry Lincoln Nickerson and his wife Laura, Melbourne, FL. Scott Lyman Smith and his wife Sally, Wellesley, MA. Noel Woods, Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by his sixteen grandchildren.
His employment history included; Army Air Force, WW II SGT. Air Force Reserves – Major 43 years, Chatham Post Office, Mount Hope Machinery Co, Taunton, Ma. Cornell -Dubelier Electronics, New Bedford, MA. Charles A Day & Co, Investments, Boston, Ma. Town of Raynham, MA-Fire Lieutenant & Civil Defense Dir, T W Nickerson Inc, Chatham – Manager.
Reg was elected to numerous positions including; Bridgewater-Raynham School District (Chairman), Raynham Public Library Board of Directors (Chairman). Chatham Selectmen Board (Chairman) New Town Manager Selection Board, Raynham Republican Town Committee for 20 years (Chairman), Devens College Alumni Association (President – Last College Class), Devens College (UMASS Veterans College at Ft. Devens. (Chairman), Raynham Long Range Planning Committee, Nickerson Family Association, Inc. (Two time President).
He was also a member of many organizations which include; PUFL Member, American Legion Chatham Post #253 (Life Member); Reserve Officers Association (Life Member). Air Force Association. Raynham Lions Club (Past President); President Melvin Jones Fellow, Lions Club – Chatham/Nauset (Past President), Cape Cod Men’s Club. East Harwich United Methodist Church, and Member and Chatham Historical Society (Docent).
Reggie’s various activities consisted of playing Chatham High School and Cape Cod League Baseball. Several All-Star Games: Old Timers Cape Cod Softball League-Several Tournament Games, Eastern States. Bowling and playing Bridge.
Memorial Service to be held at the East Harwich United Methodist Church, 1 Church St., East Harwich on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
