Verna Earline Parnell

Verna M. Parnell, 94, of Tibbie, passed away August 30, 2016 at Mobile Infirmary. She was born May 30, 1922 to Annie and Milton McIlwain. A member of Tibbie Baptist Church, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Parnell; siblings, Ulios “Pete” McIlwain, Harold J. “Bo” McIlwain, Zollow Theophilus “Thee” McIlwain, and Vergia “Vergie” McIlwain. She is survived by children, Albert “Chubby” (Lanie) Parnell, Mollie M. (James R.) Davis, Annice Lavender; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and long-time companion, John H. “Buck” Alford. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Rev. Rusty Parnell officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow the service at Fairhope Baptist Church with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Parnell, Paul McIlwain, B.J.
