Donadeane (DeeDee) Paulison, age 69, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, in her home on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, special sister, and friend to all who knew her.
An Early Childhood education degree founded her 22-year teaching career. DeeDee loved Gospel music! Throughout her lifetime she sang in the church choir and was a pianist even after losing her sight. She loved giving piano lessons! Her creative talents were also evident when painting, sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Lou Davidson of Vero Beach, FL, and her husband of 38 years, Donald L. Paulison of Port St. Lucie, FL.
She is survived by her son, Daniel L. Paulison, of Clovis, New Mexico, his wife, Samantha; sisters Joy Blea of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Ginni Pistacchio of Resaca, GA, nephew Billy Blea of Chattanooga, his wife Kathey, and extended family.
Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Honoring DeeDee’s wishes, there will be no service, but rather a grand reunion when we gather together in Heaven. Her ashes will be placed beside her late husband in White Hill Cemetery, Ft. Pierce, FL.
Gifts in DeeDee’s memory may be made to the Braille Ministry of Billy Graham Evang. Association, PO Box 378, Liberty, MO 64069 www.braillebibles.org 1-800-522-4253

My husband Luke and I lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida, for two years when we were newlyweds just trying to figure out life and ministry. Don and DeeDee quickly took us under their wing and were immeasurably kind and gracious to us. We enjoyed many meals around their kitchen table where they counseled us, encouraged us, and mentored us.
DeeDee and I spend Monday afternoons together. We made candles, played piano, and looked at stamps. And she always (always!) convinced me to take her for ice cream, where we'd sit and talk for long stretches about everything from politics to Gospel music. I love that she had an opinion about everything!
She was a true friend to me—even though she was 3 decades my senior—and I am thankful for her. She made me promise if I ever had a daughter that I would collect paperdolls for her to play with. As it happens, I recently gave birth to a little girl, so I'll keep my promise to DeeDee and see what I can find.
I hope to encourage girls who are younger than I am the way DeeDee encouraged me.

I work at Alexian Brothers and although Miss Dee Dee was a participant, I never met her, I spoke with her on the phone almost daily. You never know if you have any impact on a persons life but she sent me a Christmas present this past Christmas with a message that said, thanks for putting up with me. It made me smile. I will miss her cheerful voice. Rest in heaven my friend.
