

Sister Austin received Christ as her Savior at an early age in Alabama. She moved to Chattanooga in the late fifties. She joined Mt. Canaan Baptist Church where she served in the sixties and seventies. She later joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she was licensed to preach the gospel in 1983 where she served under Pastor Thomas Jones and received a certificate of ordination in 1985. She served at New Jerusalem for many years until she was forced to step down due to failing health.
Dorothy was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for many years working at Parkridge Hospital, Diagnostic Hospital and Medical Park Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James “Doc” Pulliam and Lorene Starling; brothers, James Pulliam and Harlan Pulliam; sisters, Johnnie Starling, Willene Copeland, Evangelist Dennie Crowley and Annie Porch; and son, Larry Pulliam
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Pulliam (Carol) of Chattanooga; three grandsons, Kenneth Pulliam Jr, Kyle Pulliam and Jamison Lacey; granddaughters, Angela Bardin and Jumasha Janay Pulliam of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Skyler Pulliam of Dalton, Georgia, Phoenix Bardin, Kamryn Pulliam, Legacy Bardin, Kendall Pulliam and Jace Ja’Karri Pulliam of Houston, TX.
A Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
A Funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm.
The Committal Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10:00 am at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4016 Tennessee Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37409.
