He was born October 28, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Robert and Patsy Hill.
Gary was a former and longtime member of New Haven Baptist Church where he had previously served as a deacon. He also served in the AWANA Club, where he was affectionately known by the “Sparkies” as “Mr. Gar-wee”.
He retired from Chazler Construction after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, his grandparents, Virgil and Nellie Hill, and father and mother-in-law Terry and Blondell McDonald preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Melissa Hill; his beloved grandchildren, Michael Hill, Anna Hill, and Liam Hill; his son, Jeremy (Susan) Hill; brother, Mitchell Hill; sister-in-law, Pat Allen, all of Chattanooga; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Gary will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 4:00 PM at New Haven Baptist Church (1058 Graysville Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421) with Rev. Robert K. Schrader officiating.
Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, and the Cremation Center of Chattanooga.
