

Mr. Furland was an avid drummer and musician and was the owner and operator of Karaoke Showcall for 15 years. He was also a developer in Real Estate. He was named Businessman of the Year in 2006 by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce. He was active in local and state politics and was a black belt in the Martial Arts. Jim was also a 20 year member of the Elks Lodge.
His mother, Sue Furland, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Donna W. Furland; father and step-mother, Donald & Linda Furland of Rochelle, Illinois; two sons, Tyler Furland and Eli Furland both of Chattanooga; daughter, Melissa Furland of Rockford, Illinois; two brothers, Jerry Furland of Chattanooga; John Furland of Nashville; granddaughter, Mekaela Furland of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made online to Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Jim.
Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
