James D. Medlin, 83, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he had also lived in McMinn County for 26 years and was a current resident of Marion County. He was a retired Machinist from the Oak Ridge Y12 Plant and was a W.W. II veteran serving in Austria. He was also a member of the Fidelity Masonic Lodge #558 F&AM in Harrison and was an avid Vols fan. He was preceded in death by his wife who was the love of his life for 53 years, Stella Mathis Medlin; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include two daughters, Jamie (David) Cobleigh, Hixson and Tommie (Terry) Munn, South Pittsburg, TN; granddaughter, Heather (Josh) Tullock, Etowah, TN; sister, Ruth Nix, Lookout Mountain, GA and was lovingly known as “Uncle Sug” to several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the East Brainerd Chapel. Interment will be in Chattanooga National cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 8214 E. Brainerd Road.
