

Mrs. Birk was born October 16, 1929, in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Mildred Eleanor (Showers) Young of Decatur, Illinois and John Melvin Young of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She had lived in Indianapolis and Noblesville, Indiana from 1930 – July, 1988; Las Vegas, Nevada from 1988 - June 2010; and Chattanooga, Tennessee from June, 2010 – February 26, 2024.
She had worked for Barth Electric Co., Inc., in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1947-1959 as Secretary & Assistant Office Manager; Indiana Manufacturers Supply Company, in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1959-1968 as Secretary & Assistant Bookkeeper; and General Motors Indianapolis Manufacturing Plant (formerly Chevrolet Commercial Body Plant) in Indianapolis, Indiana from February, 1958- September 1, 1987 as Executive Secretary to the Plant Manager.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church Chattanooga, Tennessee and the Senior Choir. Other organizations she held membership included Beach Grove Chapter No. 465, Order of the Eastern Star, in Beech Grove, Indiana; Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society, in Las Vegas, Nevada; and the Daughters of the American Revolution, Valley of Fire Chapter, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was the widow of Clifford E. Birk and was preceded in death by her brothers, John M. Young, Indianapolis, Indiana and Larry A. Young of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; and sisters, LaVerne Croucher of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary J. Krueger of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Bernice A. Bailey of Las Vegas, Nevada and great-grandchild, Corey S. Collins.
She is survived by her son, John R. Teater (Diane) of Chickamauga, Georgia; stepdaughters, Marcella L. Collins (George) Caldwell, of Idaho, and Krezlyn Waukau Pahrump, of Nevada; sister, Mildred J. (Young) Rebennack of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Zina DiFrancesco of Flintstone, Geirgua, George E. Collins III of Medford, Oregon, Sheryl L. Collins of Plano, Texas, Adrian Waukau, Parrish, of Florida, Charles Collins of Lee, Florida, and Diana Waukau Peters, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; eight great-grandchildren, Zayla R. Teater and Zoe DiFrancesco, Kayla Collins, Tara Sullivan, Peyton Collins, Trinity Collins, and 2nd Lt Dylan Wong; great-great-grandchild, Nevaeh Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
