Michael Rushod Johnson

Michael Rushod Johnson (Mike J) was born September 10, 1987, to Barbara Ann (Johnson) Bynum in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a very happy child whose smile would light up the room. He truly brought joy to anyone who knew him. Michael attended Washington Park Baptist Church.

Michael graduated from Tyner Academy in May 2005. He played basketball for the Tyner Academy team, and the Cleveland State Community College team from 2005 to 2006. Michael loved the game of basketball and helping others become better players. He was all about encouraging others to be the best they could be. Michael was united in holy matrimony to Amber Cook on September 26, 2020.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ollie Horn; great grandparents, Percy and Lula Carr; grandaunt, Lela Ross; granduncles, Howard Carr, Charles Carr, and Edward Coppage, Sr.

Michael departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 2, 2021. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Amber Johnson; his mother, Barbara Bynum; daughters, Daviona McAllister, Makiyah Strickland, Malia Strickland, Amora McAllister, Jahzara Johnson, Jayla Johnson; son, Michael Rushod Johnson, Jr.; brother, Devin (Cierre) Bynum; sisters, Tyesha Moore, Tyree Moore, Tyralyn Moore, Tye Moore; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 11:30am to 1:30 pm in the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Franklin-Strickland Chapel.

Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1:30 pm.

Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
