

Chattanooga resident, died on November 26, 2017. He was born to the late Bert Lee
and Eola May Jolley Sylar Bob battled kidney disease for 27 years.
Bob went to McCallie School and received a Bachelor’s degree from University of
Chattanooga. Bob worked at Provident Life Insurance Company
for 30 years, but was an antique dealer at heart. Bob's life-long hobby was learning about
the antiques he sold, refinishing furniture, and meeting people at Flea Markets in the South East.
Bob served in the United States Air Force four years.
Humor was a trait that best described Bob Sylar. Always one to tell a joke, his dry wit was
appreciated by anyone who met him. Bob would challenge you to name a subject and he could
tell a joke about it.
Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia L. Pack (1995) of Spring City, Tennessee.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Sylar of Ooltewah Tennessee,
daughter Sherry Sylar and her spouse Roxanne Adams of New York,
son Robert H. Sylar Jr. and his spouse Amie Sylar of Chattanooga,
grandson Patrick Robert Sylar of Chattanooga,
sisters Betty Stocker and Ethelwyn Arnold,
nephews Mike Stocker, Tim and Peter Arnold,
nieces Susan Stocker, Wendy Arnold all of Chattanooga,
and 10 step grandchildren.
There will be celebration of his life at a later date.
