Rose Laura (née Boisvert) Coddaire, born April 14, 1950, in Woonsocket, RI, formerly married as Mainville, passed away at the age of 75 on January 14, 2026. She lived most of her life in Burrillville, RI, and was a resident of Chattanooga, TN.
Rose was born with a heart defect and was among the earliest patients to undergo open-heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital. At just seven years old in 1957, she was the 13th patient to have this pioneering surgery. She graduated from Burrillville High School in 1968.
From a position as a bookkeeper, Rose's employer sent her to IBM for training in computer data entry and programming. After leaving that job she had over a decade of employment at Commerce Insurance Co. in Webster, MA, as a programmer, programmer analyst, and then systems analyst.
While at Commerce Insurance, Rose took an interest in sculpting figurines, which led to her becoming an original doll artist. For many years she sculpted polymer clay originals and sold resin, hand-painted reproductions of her art at doll shows, toy fairs, and through doll shops.
After moving to Signal Mountain, TN, in 2003, Rose was recruited by her real estate agent and enjoyed helping her clients, while also being an active member of her Condo HOA after a move to Chattanooga and up until early 2018 when she began developing memory issues.
In 2020, Rose began seeing a neurologist and was subsequently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, later complicated by Lewy body disease. Throughout this long and challenging journey, Rose's zest for life and love of nature remained steadfast. Early on in this journey, she expressed her desire to be happy and enjoy life, and she did, until the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucille Boisvert, and three brothers, Edward "Eddie", Roger "Sammy", and Robert "Bobby" Boisvert, and sister Yvonne Fearing. She is survived by her husband, Richard Coddaire; her children Mary Mainville, Laura Mainville, and Norman "Chip" (Renee) Mainville; stepchildren Mark and Jesse (Remiel Librada) Coddaire; her siblings Lucille "Lu" Medeiros, Michael "Mickey" (Deborah) Boisvert, and Charles "Charlie" Boisvert; her 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to Erlanger Neurology, Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Alexian PACE, Standifer Place, and my support groups family for their compassionate care and support. And of course, without the love and support of our friends, neighbors, and family, this journey would have been nearly impossible to endure.
Family and friends are encouraged to send donations in Rose’s memory to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc., a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to research, education, and helping and supporting those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other dementias and their caregivers, friends, and families. They are also active with local groups, service providers, and government, both local and state, in their quest “To Make Alzheimer’s A Memory”
This statement is made with love and gratitude by her husband, Rick Coddaire.
