I am sorry to have left you out of my previous message, but we had never met. My mother reminded me that she had met you several times. Your mother was so special to us during her time at the Times, and then after. Often she would stop by the house to have coffee after delivering complaints at work. When my mother was on yet another of her many cruises and I filled in for her, Sue was always there to help me get out the papers. It was she who went with me to help pick out a special gift for me to give to my mother. She would often tell us about Albert the scientist, and how much she still loved him. Then she met Joe. She lit up when she talked about him. Of course she always bragged about the kids, too.
We all hated that she moved away, but she kept in touch through the phone, and her calls were always an event. To hear about the dogs! She always had a funny story to tell. We kept hoping she would come back down to visit with us, or go on another cruise with my mother, but it just wasn't to be. I'm sure there are many arms embracing her in heaven.

Cari and Barry (since you are the two I have met), I was so sorry to see your mother's obit today. I have so many great memories of your Mom, both at District 2 and on the cruises we went on with my mother Mary. We lived through her narrow escape of the hurricane, and her courtship and marriage to Joe. After her move up North, she kept us informed in her semi-regular calls and it was always a joy to hear her voice. My mother is currently in her declining time and is with Hospice here at the house. At 91 she is still somewhat aware and often calls to mind the wonderful friendship she had with Sue and Joe. Our thoughts are with you all. Although it had been a while since we last heard from her, she was always a topic of conversation and we will certainly miss her!
