Walter Lee Tatum

Walter accepted Christ at an early age under Pastor Robert Richards. After graduating from Booker T. Washington high school he enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country. He returned home to Chattanooga, TN and began his career in the workforce. He was a proud Dye-house supervisor at Skyland International (Buster Brown) for 18 years before beginning a 20 year career at Pilgrims Pride.

Walter, affectionately known to his family and friends as Walt or Lee, was known for his quick wit and his willingness to help. He had a way of talking to anyone and making them feel seen. A lover of music, a diehard 49ers and Los Angeles Lakers Fan, and a source of inspiration, he was truly a great man.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford Dozier and Vieanna Tatum. Sisters, Shirley Tatum and Lestine Knox. 
He leaves to cherish his loving memory one daughter Shawn Alisa Tatum, one son, Adam Jerome Tatum Sr., three grandsons, Aaron Allen Jr., Seametrus Battle Jr, and Adam Tatum Jr..Four granddaughters Ada’Mesha Tatum, Kei’Shayla Tatum, MaKayla Battle, and Addison Tatum. Six great-grandkids. Three bonus sons Eric (Rachel) Thomas, Michael (Karla) Hambrick, and Daryle Hambrick. One goddaughter Felicia Bradley. Two brothers Sylvester Tatum and Tyrone Savage. One sister Jackie McKenzie, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A lie-in-state for Walter will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.

A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404. A committal service will occur Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
