Barbara Diane Petrie

Barbara Diane Petrie, age 68, died on Thursday, October 2, 2025, following an extended illness. She was born on January 16, 1957, the daughter of Carol Jeanette (Bulan) and Frederick Henry Schroth. Barb was a 1975 West Geauga High School graduate and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Kent State University. She worked as a manager several restaurants as well as the dinning hall at Kent State University, before beginning her teaching career. Barb taught at Akron University and most recently she taught at Manchester High School and Middle School in Portage Lakes, Ohio. She taught Family & Consumer Science along with Careers & Finance, which she dearly enjoyed. Barb enjoyed doing plays with the community theater.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Schroth. Survivors include her two children; Cody J. Petrie of Seattle, Washington, and Sara C. Petrie of Columbus, Ohio; and three brothers, William Schroth of Atlanta, Georgia, James Schroth of Mentor, Ohio, and Thomas Schroth of Atlanta, Georgia.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Gattozzi & Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, in Russell Township, Ohio.
