

Bruce W. Mahaffey Sr., 74, of Freedom Township, died Aug. 14, 2010, at his residence. Born June 2, 1936, in Premier, W.Va., he was a resident of Freedom Township for five years and a former resident of Chester Township for 28 years. Bruce loved fishing while spending time at his camp in Orwell. He enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to hosting his annual pig roast. Bruce's biggest joy in life was taking care of and spending time with his family, including taking the grandchildren and great-grandchildren for rides in his golf cart. Mr. Mahaffey was employed as a machinist with Kennametal in Solon, retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he was a builder and co-owner of S & M Remodeling, along with his brother-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughter, Pamala (Mike) Harris; sons, Timothy (Hallee) and Bruce Jr.; seven granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Foley and Mabel Rastellini; and brother, Otis (Nancy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Elsie Mahaffey; granddaughter, Lauren Harris; sister, Ocie Stover; and brother, Ed Jr. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Suriano will officiate. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.
