Charles L. Vild, 86, of Chardon, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was the son of the late Charles and Caroline (nee Krnc) Vild and was born on March 23, 1937. In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by two sons Charles and David Vild, sister Carole Smith, and brother Jerry McCahan. Chuck was the devoted husband for 66 years of Barbara (nee Gau); loving father of Tammie Wiley (Tim) and Bonnie DeLembo (Mark); cherished grandfather of Nicholas DeLembo (Sharon), Damien Vild, and Karl Vild; proud great-grandfather of Allison, Rebecca, and Amelia DeLembo; cousin of many, special cousin to Max Shoff (Bonnie); uncle, brother, and friend. Chuck (or lovingly referred to as Pa) loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished being around his family. In his free time, Chuck enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes and restoring old cars to their former glory. He was a member of the Geauga Radio Controlaires. As a young man, Chuck enlisted in the United States Navy and was proud of his service. Chuck retired from Lubrizol after a 32-year career. His memory lives on in the many hearts he touched. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 11am until 1pm. Celebration of Life Service will begin promptly at 1pm. Burial will take place at a later date.
