He was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Lorain. He has resided in Chester Twp. for over 30 years.
Dale was an extraordinary person. Graduating in 1951 from Willoughby Union High, he joined the U.S. Navy Submarines. During the Korean Conflict, his boat, the USS Seafox, trolled the waters of the N. Pacific, including under the Polar Ice Cap! Being an expert diver, he later became a member of the Lake County Sheriff Dive Team. Dale was a 33° Mason, and a member of the Ohio Valley Scottish Rite. His many hobbies included skating, windsurfing, biking, skiing, snowboarding, and his beloved Harley-Davidson.
Dale was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 38. His specialty was climbing, he worked on many steel mills and bridges in Cleveland. His fondest memories were with the Neon Sign Company early in his career. Dale was a member of National Ski Patrol at Alpine Valley for over 45 years, where he also taught snowboarding at the ski school. He was very proud of being an 84-year-old instructor.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (nee Conkle) Keim; children, Darrell (Connie) Garlock, Jeannine (Patricia Blaskovic) Bonsignore, Gregg (Susan) Garlock, David (Jama) Keim, Brenda (Bob) Patete, and Kristine (Shawn) Wilson; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and siblings, Keith (Becky), Ronnie (Brenda), and Glenda O'Bell.
Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chester Twp.
Funeral Services will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale's name may be made to the Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga Medical Center, 13207 Ravenna Rd., Chardon, OH 44024.
