Dennis “Denny” Toohig, born January 31st, 1954 in Cleveland to John and Florence (Zak) Toohig, passed away on May 16th, 2022. Dennis graduated from Benedictine High School in 1972 and went on to have a distinguished career in the United State Marine Corps, retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant after 25 years of service. He also retired from CSX Railroad. Dennis enjoyed cutting firewood and complaining about cutting firewood, woodworking, building things, and meeting for breakfast. He enjoyed bringing family and friends together by hosting family reunions and had a great sense of humor and always loved a good story. He helped anyone he could and doing so brought him happiness. He loved all his family and friends and they loved him. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Toohig; his sister Judith Fife and his brother James Toohig; and his brother-in-law Robert Dever. Dennis is survived by his daughter Shelly (Scott) Watkins; his grandchildren Taylor, Sydney and Emiley; his brother Gary (Carol) Toohig; sister Peggy Dever; brother-in-law David Fife; sister-in-law Liesa Toohig; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved companion Mary Ray, her children, Lisa, Lyndzie and Will and grandchildren, Brycen, Aubrie, Brooklynn, Kendall and Matthew that all held a special place in his heart. Friends may call at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, on Wednesday June 1st, 2022 from 9:30am -11am, where Funeral Service will be held at 11am.
