Evelyn (Dolly) Marie Paugh (maiden name Bennett) died in her home on March 30, 2021 in Streetsboro, Ohio. She was 89. Dolly was born on November 18, 1931 in East Cleveland, Ohio and raised by her mother and stepfather, Alice and Salvatore Amato. Dolly married James Henry Paugh in 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Paugh happily celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December 2020. Mrs. Paugh was a homemaker and mother to four children. She was involved in her daughters’ Girl Scout activities, served on PTA committees and volunteered with her sorority sisters. Once her children entered middle school, Mrs. Paugh began working at Hawken High School where she enjoyed meeting each years’ new students and being part of their school family, where she retired. After retirement, Mrs. Paugh and her husband volunteered at the Wickliffe Senior Center where they enjoyed making new friends and serving their community. Mr. and Mrs. Paugh proudly accepted the center’s Volunteer of the Year Award for their many years of service. Mrs. Paugh always made her family’s home the center of holiday celebrations, especially Christmas Eve. The parties brought family, neighbors and friends together and was always a must attend for the holiday season. Mrs. Paugh is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jerry Markowitz of Mount Airy, Maryland, Carolyn and Roger Mealy of Painesville, Ohio; her sons and daughters-in-law James and Amy Paugh, Jr Pickney, Michigan, and John and Zina Paugh of Streetsboro, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Grace Amato; her brothers, Robert and Harry Bennett and her grandsons Thomas James Fiorucci and Joshua Swisher.
Funeral Service 12:00 pm, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, with Visitation at the funeral home two hours prior to service. Interment Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Paugh’s life.
