Frank L. Urankar, 62 of Chardon, Ohio passed away peacefully in the company of family on December 23, 2023. He was born September 18, 1961 in Cleveland Ohio to Antonia (nee Gosar) and Frank Urankar (deceased). Frank was the youngest of four children: Anne Luzar (husband Ernie, deceased), Joe (wife Sue Urankar), and Toni (husband Jim Robinette). Frank was married for 33 years to Deborah Urankar (nee Mannello), and proudly raised their son Brian Mannello. Frank found great joy in spending time with his many nieces and nephews.
Frank grew up with his siblings and cousins Vince, Louie, and John Vhrovnik on Mohican Ave. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary and graduated from St. Joseph High School. The family enjoyed summers at Pristava embracing their Slovenian heritage.
Frank retired from Union Construction Trades after 25 years, and went on to work in residential remodeling with his cousin John Vrhovnik. He never tired of household projects whether it was taking down trees or fixing something Debbie had broken. His dogs, Ginger then Hannah, were never far from his side, and were lovingly referred to as “girlfriend”.
Whether walking the Grand River or traveling abroad, Frank enjoyed the challenge of landing the big one. Frank’s love of Cleveland sports was clearly displayed as he proudly donned his Browns and Buckeyes gear. Frank never passed up an opportunity to spend time with old friends or make new friends at the card table. Current events and politics were his passion. Frank was well read in these areas and enjoyed a good debate.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Frank’s life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Westel’s Speakeasy, 4084 Erie Street in Willoughby.
Donations in Frank’s memory should be directed to Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue or Rescue Village.
