Jean Frances O'Brien

Jean Frances O’Brien, age 84, passed away on, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Chardon, Ohio. She was born on October 30, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Margaret Elizabeth (Grubiss) and Lawrence Mason Brown. Jean grew up in South Euclid and was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and attended Notre Dame Academy in Cleveland. On August 26, 1961, she married William Martin O’Brien at St. Gregory’s. Moving to Chesterland in 1973, Jean began babysitting, retiring after more than forty years. Many children have passed through the O’Brien home, sharing in Jean’s tender loving care. Jean was the heart of the home and loved her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, doing puzzle books, and was a huge Elvis fan.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Bill; and her siblings, Sister Mary Therese Brown, and Larry P. Brown. Survivors include her three sons, William B. O’Brien of Columbus, Ohio, Michael E. (Donna) O’Brien of Chicago, Illinois, and Patrick J. O’Brien of Columbus, Ohio; and cherished her four grandchildren, Aaron, Jared, Mollie and Emma.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21st, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026.
