Margaret “Peggy” Bialosky, 88, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will be treasured by all who knew her—and especially her beloved husband Alan and their children, grandchildren, and hundreds of two- and four-legged friends.
Peggy and Alan married in 1956, embarking on a 67-year adventure that was a perfect personal and professional partnership. The couple co-authored a weekly column for the Cleveland Plain Dealer about pets and turned Peggy’s passion for collecting teddy bears into the globally recognized Bialosky Bear property. In connection therewith they traveled extensively, appearing twice on The Today Show, and were hosted at the White House where they met with Jim Brady, Ronald Reagan’s press secretary. Peggy, a 1956 graduate of Indiana University, was an accomplished writer and journalist and published several books, including Pets I've Met (Doubleday), a collection of poems celebrating her passion for pets, and The Teddy Bear Catalog (Workman Publishing).
Peggy was a tireless advocate for animals, volunteering at shelters and rescue organizations throughout her life. Known for her kind and compassionate heart towards all creatures great and small, that passion included her own pets, who were treated as members of the family, often joining in on vacations.
Peggy had an infectious and mischievous sense of humor, once hiding pieces of her mother-in-law’s silverware in Alan’s coat pockets. Her quick wit often left her family and friends in stitches. Her laughter was contagious, and her smile could light up any room. Her family will always remember her loving nature and ability to make them laugh even in the toughest of times.
Peggy lived a full and meaningful life, leaving a positive imprint on those lucky enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who loved her, but especially her husband Alan, sons David (Carolyn), Jeff and Randy (Joy), and grandchildren Robert, Becca, Grace, Jake, Elisabeth, Sarah, Ryan, Lindsey and Davis. Peggy was preceded in death by her daughters-in-law, Tammy Jo and MaryAnn, her grandson Robert, and numerous adored pets who are now joyfully celebrating being reunited with Peggy across the Rainbow Bridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Rescue Village in Russell Township, Ohio in Peggy's memory. A private family service will be held to celebrate her life.
