Mary B. McPhillips

Mary B. McPhillips (nee Donohoe), age 88, passed away peacefully December 18, 2018 at Vista Springs Senior Living in Concord Twp. Born December 10, 1930 in Derrylin, Ireland, she resided in Chester Twp. for 40 years prior to moving to Concord Twp. 8 years ago. Mary was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Anselm in Chester Twp. Having emigrated from Ireland in 1952, she often enjoyed traveling back to Ireland to visit family. She also enjoyed shopping with friends, visiting casinos, making ceramics, and playing cards, especially Pinochle. Mary’s biggest joy in life though was spending time with her family, including hosting numerous Holidays and Sunday dinners. She was a longtime “Lunch Lady” at Lindsay Elementary School in Chester Twp. Mary is survived by her sons James (Fr. Jay), Patrick (Isabel), and Michael (Michelle); daughter Bridget (Mark) Verma; grandchildren Patrick and Shannon McPhillips, and Ian and Julia Verma; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband James G. “Jimmy”; parents Thomas and Margaret Donohoe; and siblings Susan, Joseph, John, Anna, and Catherine. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 2:15 p.m., at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chester Twp. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chester Twp. Rev. Jay McPhillips Celebrant. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
