

Matthew S. Ziska of Chesterland, died Jan. 25, 2015. Born Dec. 26, 1973, he was the beloved son of Otto J. and Dolores M. Ziska of Novelty. Matt grew up in Chesterland and attended West Geauga High School (Class of 1992), where he was a dedicated member of the marching band and wrestling team. He also spent time volunteering with the Chesterland Volunteer Fire Department. He made both a career and hobby out of his love of cars and motorcycles. He was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed fixing up cars. Matt was a member of Laborers International Union of North America. He was also an avid Harley-Davidson fan. Matt was always willing to use his talents to help anyone who needed a hand. Matt will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his laugh, and his kind and truly generous heart. He was the loving brother of Otto J. Ziska, Jr. of Chardon, Kimberly G. Ziska of Mentor and Joseph R. Ziska (Carolyn Thorne) of Norwood, Mass; He was also the loving uncle of Brandy Campbell (Chad), Heather Ziska, Madison Davies and Katherine Ziska; and the great-uncle of Layla Campbell. Matt is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, many dear friends and his beloved Australian Shepherd, Tia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adolph and Mary Eleanor Ziska; and Ray and Hilda Bartholomew. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Matt's life at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Mayfield Church of Chesterland, 7747 Mayfield Rd., Chesterland, with a reception to follow until 2 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's memory and his love for Tia to the Geauga Humane Society's Rescue Village (www.geaugahumane.org) or to a charity of your choice.
