Maureen “Mo” Detroyer (nee Donovan) of Concord Township, OH, formerly a fifty-year resident of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Maureen was the youngest daughter of Joseph and Maureen (nee Kelly) Donovan. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 1, 1940 and met her husband Maurice (Moe) Detroyer when working in Detroit, Michigan. After marrying in June of 1966, the two moved to Minneapolis where Maureen managed the Ebeling and Reuss gift showroom, while Moe traveled three states building the company sales. Both Moe and Mo loved their work and made many lifelong friends. After retirement, the couple enjoyed several happy years wintering in Mesa AZ. In 2021, they decided to return to Maureen’s hometown (Cleveland, OH) and the extended Donovan clan. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 59 years, Maurice J Detroyer (Concord Township, OH) and her sweet sister-in-law, Sheila (Detroyer) Gambino (Mesa, AZ). She was also a loving step-mother to adult children: Richard J Miller (Therese) (West Bend, WI), Susan Vann (Spanaway, WA), a dear “Auntie” to 6 nieces and nephews: Kathy Widing-surviving spouse (Dale) (Chagrin Falls, OH), Kevin Widing (Cindy) (Chesterland, OH)), Ken and Denise (Widing) Balsiger (Andover, OH), Nels Widing (Robin Rancourt), (Chardon, OH), Shane and Leslie(Gambino) Kelly (Newbury Park, CA) , Jeffrey and Lori Gambino, (Thousand Oaks, CA) ; a wonderful “Grandma Duck!” to ten grandchildren and a great-grandmother and friend to countless others.
Her legacy to family and friends includes her: delighted laughter, sparkling blue eyes, incredible good-luck at cards (she kept score!), magnificent Irish temper, love for all dogs and an abiding devotion for her “Moe” and her family. You will be sorely missed, Maureen!
