

Funeral Mass for William Fickel, 93, of Chester Township, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Mr. Fickel passed away Dec. 24, 2010. He had lived in Chester Township since 1956. William was a local home builder for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed farming on land in Ashtabula and planting gardens every year. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. Survivors include his children, Jean Sudnick, James Fickel, The Rev. William Fickel, Dorothy (Thom) Heiden and Joanne (Peter) Fickel-Dautartas; 15 grandchildren, Roger, Randy, Ray, Richard and Deloris Sudnick, Dawn, James and Blair Fickel, Elly Clow, Alex, Andrea and Erik Heiden and Shayla, Tavia and Gavin Dautartas; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brittny, Nathan, Andrew, Kyle, Alaina and Alivia Sudnick, Tyler and Layla Clow, Corinne and Augustus Heiden and Liana Dautartas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor (Cripps); parents, Anthony and Ella (Wagner); brother, Raymond; and sisters, Eleanor Blaskevica, Marjorie White and Marion Stark. The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026. Interment will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Blessed Sacrament Congregation, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Heights, OH 44143.
