

William Ray Sanders, age 75, a 54 year resident of Chester Twp., passed away at his home on September 27, 2015. He was born April 22, 1940 in North Birmingham, Ky. William was a lifelong carpenter who retired in 2000. He was a 57 year member of Carpenter's Union Local 435 and volunteered with Geauga Habitat for Humanity. He loved riding his motorcycle, gardening, fixing things, and helping others. He was a friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene; daughter, Beverly; granddaughter, Samantha; sisters, Marge Walker (Britton), Jo Anne Barbian, and Deborah Tarbell; brothers, Pastor Ernie (Ellen), Raymond (Bonnie), David (Barbara), and James (Debbie); and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mina Sanders; and brothers-in-law, Alfred Barbian and Joe Walker. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd. in Chester Twp. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, at the Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chester Twp. The Rev. Thomas Sweany will officiate. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in William's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park Dr., Suite 300, Beachwood, OH 44122.
