

Born on July 4, 1954, to the late Antonio Perez and Carmen Martinez, Anita lived a life defined by unwavering love, generosity, and purpose.
Anita shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with her soulmate, Jaime Tejeda. Their union was a shining example of love and partnership, built on faith.
She leaves behind a legacy carried forward by her children: Christopher Ricardo (Fanny Carolina) Tejeda, Yezenia P. (Victor) Martinez, Aisha (Julio) Mercado, and the memory of her beloved son, the late Joshua Andres Tejeda. His spirit lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Christopher Nathaniel Tejeda, Julian Zacharias Tejeda, Jonath Alexio Tejeda, Sean X. Pferschy, Cristiano Andres Tejeda, Xander X. Lymon, Layla Tiyanna Martinez, Samantha Martinez, and Isabella A. Mercado. Each one held a special place in her heart and brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Anita was a loving sister to Carmen Perez, Arthur (Beatrice) Perez, Antonia (Harvey) Rivers, Carlos Perez, and lovingly remembered by the late Albert Perez and Santiago “Jimmy” Perez.
Anita lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service. She was a devoted member of Queen of the Universe church, where she found joy in singing in the choir. Her voice was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
She had a special talent for baking, and her grandchildren were the lucky recipients of her delicious kolachy and butter cookies. The aroma of her freshly baked goods will always be remembered fondly by her family.
Early in her career, she worked as a beautician, bringing beauty and confidence to those she served. Later, she pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, dedicating many years to caring for others with compassion and skill. Her commitment to her patients and her profession was unwavering until her retirement.
Her absence leaves a profound void, but her legacy of love, strength, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family misses her dearly, but they find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in every life she touched.
A visitation for Anita will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Andrew J McGann & Sons Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, Illinois. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, August 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Queen Of The Universe Catholic Church (Mary Mother Of Mercy Parish), 7114 S. Hamlin Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Interment to follow Mass at St. Mary Cemetery and Mausoleums at 87th and Hamlin Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois.
