Affectionately known as Don Arturo, and lovingly called “Pop” by his grandchildren, Arturo was a true pillar of his family and community. He was the first of his family to immigrate to the United States, later paving the way for his siblings to follow. He proudly served for many years as a member of the Banda de Guerra de Ciudad Hidalgo, where he played the tambor de guerra.
Don Arturo was also well known for his love of cooking, especially his beloved and famous “Sopa de Pop,” which brought family and friends together time and time again.
He cherished connecting with others—whether during his walks at the mall or Warren Park, or while sitting outside his garage, enjoying conversations with neighbors, friends, and family who stopped by. His warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Arturo is survived by his loving wife, Romelia Monroy; his children, Angelica Rosas, Patricia Ontiveros, and Arturo Monroy Jr.; his grandchildren, Gladys Rosas, Romelia Rosas, Rene Arturo Ontiveros, Marvin Ontiveros, Ismael Bryan Rosas, Giselle Ontiveros, and Arturo A. Monroy; his siblings, Pedro, Vicente, and Maria, and his late siblings Rodolfo and Angela. He is also survived by many dear friends, nieces, nephews, and his cherished great-granddog, Bella Rosas.
Don Arturo’s legacy of courage, love, and family will live on for generations.
May he rest in eternal peace.
