Chin Lay, 84, of Chicago passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. She was born in Kampot, Cambodia to the late Wu Eam Gang, and Tang Gim Sieu on June 15, 1941. She was married to Lay Heng Hak who passed away in 1977. She came to the United States with her five young children in September 1979 as refugees. Her resilience and strength carried her and her children through one of the most difficult transitions of their lives, and she continued to persevere for the sake of her family. She dedicated her entire life to taking care of her children and never remarried because she said no other men were as good as her husband and that she only loved him.
She had a passion for gardening, traveling, cooking, spending time with family & friends, and sharing stories of her life. She was admired for her green thumb and could grow anything regardless of the season. She is survived by her children Josephine, Henry (and Terri), Kevin (and Moy), Lee (and Jennifer), and Peter (and Ying Huang), and her grandchildren Brandon, Connie, Eric, Amanda, Kaylin, Megan, Grace, and Sarah.
