David John Meyer, 54, beloved husband of Kristen, nee McCluskey. Devoted father of Michael (Alicia), Haley, Alyssa, and Kaitlyn. Loving Papa to Emerson. Loyal son to Francine and Martin Meyer and brother to Brandon. He is loved by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lifelong friend of Harold Oberg, Donny Oberg and Scott Czarnecki, and a cherished friend to all who knew him. Dave was a proud Chicago Fire Department Captain who served the City of Chicago for 28 years.
Dave enjoyed spending his time with his lifelong friends, cheering on the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He was known for entertaining at his homes whether it was throwing people in the pool, driving around in his boat, fishing or creating monster bonfires. An avid carpenter, he was the proprietor of Meyer Builders and performed quality work to the point of being featured on Windy City Rehab. He was known for riding his Harley around the country with many friends.
His devotion to his family was known to all who met him. He met his sweet wife at the age of 16 when they both attended Lane Technical High School. They have been married for over 30 years and enjoyed watching their family grow. They spent many years traveling and visiting friends around the country. Dave was not only a great husband and father, but he was a friend that you could depend on at any time. Dave was a devoted, loving man who was always there with a joke, a smile, a sarcastic comment, or a prank. He will be missed by many in his family, community, and the CFD brotherhood.
