(Chef) that's what we called him , had the prettiest smile I ever seen, jus a great person all around , I'm going to miss that smile and joking with him at work ,I pray tht his family stay surrounded in comfort and love during  time of grief. 

I remember the good times we had as a family growing up  on Franklin blvd, playing outside, going to park' sleep over watching (creature feature) family gathering going to the kingdom hall and the list goes on not only were we cousins but each other's first friends.Rest in peace cuzo

I attended the kingdom hall as a youth along with the “Garrett”family, they will always be near & dear to me & my family(Harris)May Jehovah GOD wrap his loving arms around you all and comfort & strengthen the family at this time. My Deepest Condolences 🙏🏽💙🙏🏽

My cousin had a contagious smile! He was kind and loved by his family. I will miss him and will keep him in heart. 

Derrick was avery good friend of mine, we laughed & talked&ate food together, many days, I took him to get his Tahoe. we really had a nice time that day I'm going to really miss my. friend, he use to tell me about his train set , he was an awesome, friend, glad I had a chance to be a part of his life, I'm praying for the family, ,  &you Chris , may Derrick , R . I. P., In Heaven.

Derrick T. Garrett was a very good kind hearted man and he will be truly missed. RIP 

I was blessed to meet Derrick when my parents bought a home directly across the street from his parents back in the"70's,. He was just a teenager when we met and we become friends, we would wash our fathers cars together on Saturdays just so we could have our water fights. He was such fun to be around, always kept a smile on his face and could lift your spirit if you were feeling down with just that smile and the sparkle of his eyes, another angel as gotten his wings, rest in peace my friend, until we meet again on that beautiful shore.

Derrick Garrett I will always remember as a good brother a quiet spoken giant rest in peace my brother.

I’m sooo sad , I use to see him everyday at work, working at O’Hare . So sad he is gone already.. praying for his family

One of the kindest people i've seen, we always had a great conversation, he will be greatly missed. 

I'm an old coworker of Derrick from O'Hara Airport back in the 90s. I was with him when he brought that blue Chevy. We lost contact with each other when I transferred over to the Sewer Dept. To Derricks family, you have my deepest condolences. May he R.I.H. Amen.
