Eugene Bilecky of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away November 18, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was 71 years old. Gene, or Geno as his friends referred to him, was born in Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Katherine Bilecky. Geno was known for being incredibly kind, giving and loving, especially to his nieces and nephews, who regarded him as their favorite. Geno left Chicago to visit California where his sister and her husband, John Kaminski, lived. He began working for Western Belle Telephone Company where John worked. That chance job led to a career that carried him all the way to Colorado. Geno loved to cook, and his brother in law always laughs about how much he would cook. He always wanted to make sure you were fed. He felt that it was so important to be giving of one's self that he would bring food to Saint Joseph Polish Catholic Church in Denver. John recalls one person, Frank, that was the recipient of that food many times. Geno loved Hawaii. He and John would go all of the time. They loved to play golf together. The two things that Geno loved most in his life were his family and having his family for the holidays. He would always go to California to be near John and his children. He also loved flee markets and every time he went to California he would take John on flee market adventures with him. Geno will be sorely missed.
Geno is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Katherine and sister, Myrna. He is survived by his brother in law, John; nieces, Susan Feret and Kathy McCoy; nephews, John Thomas and Robert, as well as, 6 great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:30am at Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery, 8851 W. Higgins Rd, Chicago.
