Eugene J. Wrzesinski, age 75 of Chicago, US Army Veteran. Loving husband of Susan Wrzesinski (nee Bock). Beloved father of Michael (Annette) and Andrew. Proud Grampa of Gerardo “Louie” and Myra. Dear Brother of John(Cheryl) and Carol Young. Preceded in death by his sister Judith Gerard, his parents-Alfreda and Irwin and his Mother–in-Law, Alice Bock. Cherished nephew of Margaret Carroll. Fond Uncle and Great Uncle of many. The family restaurant, Syrena’s was a neighborhood institution in Back of the Yards. Gene was a retired instructor and alumnus of Washburne Culinary and Hospitality Institute. He started his career at the family restaurant, Syrena’s and then its successor, Café Chicago with the Diaz Family. Gene was the executive chef at Chicago Heights Golf Club and Riverside Gold Club. He capped his career with nine years at Washburne and in his retirement, enjoyed teaching adults at Ivy Tech in Gary. He loved, loved, loved cooking for people and making people happy. Gene had three religions-fishing, golfing and the White Sox. His favorite holiday activity was making gingerbread houses with the kids. His family, friends, students and colleagues will always remember his wit, warmth and fine food. Visitation Wednesday from 3:00P.M.-9:00P.M. Chapel service Thursday 10:00 A.M. at The Andrew J.
