James T. Davin, 83, retired Chicago Fire Dept., Battalion Chief, died Sunday, January 18th. Chief Davin, who grew up in the Roseland Neighborhood, joined the Fire Dept. in 1960 after serving in the Navy. He retired in 1994 as Chief of the 24th Battalion. Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Doris (nee Wainwright); loving father of Karen (C.P.D.) (Ray, Ret. C.P.D.) Madigan, Dan (Sheila) and Mary Margaret (Mike) Gerbas; proud grandfather of Josh Davin, Ryan Hogan and Angie and Mike Gerbas; son of the late Francis Davin (C.F.D.) and Josephine (nee Galassini); fond brother of the late Francis (Betty) Davin. Jim had many dear cousins, friends and beloved beagles. Visitation Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. Funeral Thursday 10:15 a.m. at Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home, 10727 S.
