John "Jack" Gawlinski

John “Jack” Gawlinski, beloved husband of Bernadine (Madura Murray) Gawlinski. Loving father of David Gawlinski (Lori Bell), Daniel Gawlinski (Felicia), Debra Cohen (nee Gawlinski) (Kenneth Burns), Denise Fortin (nee Gawlinski) (Michael Fortin). Loving stepfather of Scott Murray (Lisa Peraino), Daniel Murray (Lora), Sean Murray. Cherished grandfather of Amanda (Kameron), Drew, Mackenzie, Elliot, Tin, Caeli, Olivia, Luke and Liam. Great grandfather of Kameron and Melody. Dear brother of Leona Kuta (Ronald), Corrine LoPresto (William). Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to White Sox charities.

Jack was a man who never met a stranger. He made everyone feel welcomed, loved and heard. He treated everyone kindly and always found the good in people. His smile and eternal optimism always lit up the room.

He and his wife, Bernadine, spent 25 years together living life to the fullest. They travelled extensively but loved most to be with their families. And boy could they throw a great party!

Jack was a lifelong White Sox and Bears fan and loved to watch them play, especially in person. He also loved golf and played weekly with a group of friends in River Grove (his old hood!) for more than 20 years. And sweet tooth? Yes, he definitely had one, especially for chocolate!

We love you, and miss you dearly already, Jack -- Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle and Friend. We know you’re up in Heaven reunited with your parents and other family -- and probably playing a hand of pinochle. 😊

Visitation for Jack will be on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m., at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, (Edward A. Tylka, Manager), 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago IL 60646. Chapel prayers on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 8 a.m. at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646.
