Deepest condolences to friends and family for this heartbreaking loss.

I first met Julie back in the 80's when we worked together at Lynch. She came on like drill sergeant.  Over the years she became my sister in law, my client and my friend. I was lucky to be able to share many great times with all the Fritzmanns.  In my life Julie went from drill sergeant to teddy bear.  I know she will be missed,

The friendship between the Fritzmann and the Scott family’s began decades ago. The story goes that Julie’s parents and my parents met when Frank and my dad Vaile were doing laundry at a public laundry mat.  They bonded over washing and drying diapers for one or more of the many kids that each family was blessed with.  We lived and grew up in Oak Park and would drive to Logan Square to the Fritzmann’s for cook-outs and fondly remembered family get togethers.  All thirteen of us kids, drinking soda and eating chips (a real treat for us) and running along the sides of the house and onto the midway long into the night. 
Julie and I were the same age and also became “pen pals”.  We would write to each other because somehow we thought the distance between Logan Square and Oak Park was soooo far!  At one of these family parties we locked ourselves in the upstairs closet at the Fritzmann house.  This got us into a heap of trouble because the key mysteriously disappeared!   The dad’s had to take the door off to get us out, they were not happy!
When Julie and I were 12 or 13 we begged to take the “L” downtown by ourselves and proceeded to get lost on the way back.  We got off the “L” at what we thought was the right stop, it was obvious immediately that we were way out of our league! Some older teenage boys came up to us and asked to see the records we had bought.  Julie, cool, calm and collected showed them the records and then got directions from them to get us back to Logan Square. 
I am so grateful that Mike and I were able to get up to the farm a couple years ago and see Julie and the family. Julie’s smile, open heart, and warmth will stay with me always.

The Fritzmanns for so very long have been a huge part of our Logan Blvd. family going back to the day we moved next door. Julie, the eldest daughter,  was always a presence of warmth and strength . She in many ways reflected Marylou’s best qualities. She like all of her siblings was ever present at so many shared family events and her presence will be missed but her memory will endure . R.I.P. dear Julie. The Kufrin’s hearts are either you all. Love Ben & Joan .

So Julie had a floating lounge pad (very floaty!) and there were three of us. We were not tiny humans. What could possibly go wrong!?! Well, the wind came up, so the waves got bigger, the current might have been an issue. But we kicked our feet and laughed, and fell off the floaty and laughed, and pretty much became incapacitated from laughing so hard. We did not drown but we did go for food—we were starving and laughing, ha!  A very good day!

I didn’t truly appreciate how serious Julie was about her agate hunting until we hit this rock beach. I’m pretty sure I walked the dog and then took a  nap, ha.

I had the pleasure of growing up with the Fritzmann family and getting to know Julie and the way she treated me was something I'll never forget. The parties, the jam sessions, the farm! I even worked for her on a few occasions and she always took care of me, like family. I can close my eyes and see her,  She was sweet, caring, smart, hard working and she was like a sister to me.
Thanks for the memories Julie & RIP.
               I love you and you will be missed!
