Words do no justice for what the heart sings...I can't help but to miss you every day, say your name at least once a day, and tell a story to somebody about you. My sleep is filled with dreams of you; yet I awake to realize I can't wrap my arms around you and tell you one more time how much I love, appreciate and cherish you. I miss your guidance and direction, some days I feel very lost without it. Had to write to you today, I love you and miss you more than I could ever express in words. Thank you though, for every butterfly you have sent me over the past few weeks...that alone is the best way you could have ever shown me that you are still "here". In my heart always, love you gram.

Dear Kathy,
Even the best of relationships go through struggles at times, much like life. As I think about you over these last couple of weeks what stands out in my mind is your incredible strength. Life didn't always show you the easiest path yet when you walked it, you did so with determination and your head held high.

There is an emptiness and loss that I feel in my life now as I did when my mother passed. While nothing can completely fill the emptiness that exists when someone you love is gone, there’s so much you gave of yourself that whatever emptiness that continues to exist will at least be bearable. I have your warmth, your caring, your thoughts, but most of all, your joy and laughter. Your laugh could be heard everywhere and I will always hear it. These are gifts that are priceless but you gave them so freely.

Both Sherry and I are the better for being able to share the warmth and joy you were so willing to feel and experience in life. You touched so many and that has to be the true measure of success. Life may not have always been easy for you but you truly lived it well.

Dearest Mom,
I miss you.  Those three words can’t even begin to describe how I feel.  I never thought I could be this sad or miss any one person this much.  My heart is broken and my life is not, and will never be, the same again.  You were such a big part of it; no one could ever replace you or your love.  I know I’ve said this before, but I want to say it again…  Thank you for teaching me to be a strong, independent person.  Thank you for teaching me unconditional love, respect, friendship, integrity, humility, benevolence, generosity, and humor.  Thank you for always being there when I needed you; not just when I was child but also as an adult.  You alone helped me get through the toughest situations and decisions in my life.  You were always supportive and encouraging.  You wanted me to succeed and you did whatever you needed to so that I could.  I am a bit lost right now, but I know that I will get through this because of everything you have shown me.  You knew me better than anyone else and even better than myself sometimes; I believe that’s what it means to be a good Mother.  As usual, you topped that and became a great Mother.  In my mind and heart, no one can or will surpass you.  Many years ago I wrote a poem.  I didn’t know then where the words and feelings came from, I just put them down on paper.  Now I do.  I want to leave this for you.

Dear Mama,
I miss you so much IT IS SO HARD WITHOUT YOU. I want to pick up the phone and call you but I can't. I know you fought so hard to stay with us. Little Vito always wants and askes for his GG so I tell him GG is sleeping. I'm trying so hard not to fight with my sisters but sometimes I can't. Please don't be madd at me when I fight with them it is I just can't let go of you. I went to see Gram I will take care of her grave and yours the best that I can just like you always did. I LOVE ALL OF YOU AND MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH. I will try to stay strong Like you told to be.

I needed to write to you today, as I am trying to pull myself together enough to get to school. I'm caught in the inner struggle of the joy you shared with me over every small and large milestone I've reached since I enrolled to knowing now, that you will not physically be there to be the loudest one in the room (per usual, hehe) cheering when I finally graduate. So do me a favor? Cheer REALLY loud from Home for me, so I can feel you, deal? :)

Even though I am torn, I WILL finish school, I make that promise to you, because I know if I stopped going now it would break your heart. I also know that I have strength enough to continue.

I've been searching for you, praying for your presence, and all I can ask now is that my soul, mind and thoughts are all open enough to sense every moment you show up. I love you so much gram, and miss you beyond measure...see you in my dreams.

To Nicki's Family,
When I First Heard Kathleen Was In The Hospital I Felt The Fear And Love From Nicki In Her Voice And Text Messages. I Knew Kathleen Stayed As Strong As She Can. Granted I Did Not Know Her Personally I Did Hear GREAT Things About Her From Nicki. She Kept The Great Times Alive Every Story I Heard I Felt As If I Was There To Share The Memories. When I Found Out She Was Transferred I Was Happy To Know She Was Getting The Help She Did Need. I Feel For Your Loss And Your Hurt, I Went Knowing I Can Be There For Nicki And Her Family. It Ment Allot To My Self Knowing I Showed Up Being There For The Slightest Thing Tears, Thoughts, Memories. Anything, And I Do Give My Thoughts Out Every Night Knowing That Kathleen Is Off In A Better Place Not Having To Hurt. Now She Can Walk Threw Every Single Persons Hearts, Minds, And Dreams. When I Heard Nicki Was Going To Do Kathleen's Make-Up I Knew It Was Something That Should Of Been Done. It Shows Strength, And Love. When I Arrived At The Funeral Home I Felt As If I Couldn't Help My Self From Crying. Granted I Did Not Know Kathleen But Knowing That One Of My Greatest Friends Lost A Loved One Tore Me Apart. To Anyone Who Is Reading This I Am Here For Anything Talking A Shoulder Anything. I Take My Last Couples Seconds Of Typing To Light This Candle In My Mind And Say My Thoughts Prayers And Love And Placing It Right Next To Grandma Kathleen. As I Pull Away I Say Im Sorry You Had To Go I Wish I Had The Chance To Meet You But The Memories And Stories I Hear Will Make Me Feel As If I Knew You. To Kathy's family,
I heard about Kathy's passing this morning. I worked with your mother at CNA for many years. We had so many pleasant conversations and I was so impressed with how she handled her cancer challenges. I remember the joy she experienced when she was Line Dancing. Unfortunately, we lost touch after she left CNA, but last year she contacted me when she found out I had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and was participating in the Susan G Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer walk. After all these years she never forgot about me and even sponsored me for my walk. She was such a wonderful person.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

To all of Kathy's family: Could there ever have been a sweeter person?  I was privileged to know (and get tons of hugs from) Kathy when I was part of the Chicago Insight "family" and I am so very sorry to hear that she has passed.  But I know she has gone someplace where love reigns over all.

My dearest grandma,
Finding the words to write is challenging, as my emotions speak volumes about you in a very different, most beautiful language. I cannot thank you enough, as I never could while you walked this Earth, for everything you have done for me in every way possible. Our connection was so strong and I pray that it becomes stronger now that you are Home (hey, you have a pull with the Big Guy now!). Everybody that you met was touched by your beautiful heart and soul. You were most certainly a light in my life when I needed it the most, a second set of eyes to look at a situation to help me with, and my BIGGEST fan. 

I never knew what strength was until I watched you go through your 2 cancers, heart valve surgery, and most recently your fall in November. (And although I was not born before Uncle Tony died, you shared so openly with me how you handled the whole thing). Every step of these "adventures" you took in stride and found ways to smile through the grief, tears, and pain. You were always the first one to crack a joke from a hospital bed! You taught me what strength is...

I will cherish every moment I spent with you, our 3 hour phone conversations (T-mobile is going to be sad to see my diminished minute usage now, haha), the laughs and tears we shared, every praise you gave me for everything I did, and most certaintly, our tap dances on the kitchen floor at the old house :) And as I'm writing this, I was just reminded of the times Don and I used to come downstairs just to get some Starbursts out of your candy dish or run out in the backyard with the plastic pool so we could give Brandy a bath...all memories are locked tightly in my heart.

I truly couldn't have asked for a better role model in my life and I only hope I can continue to make you proud now. The term unconditional love was something I knew long before I could even read, because that is surely what you gave. I miss you so very much, and love you more than words. I could write for hours on end about you, but you still know my heart, so for now I will let you read that. I hope I can be just like you, someday.

Dear Ma,
I am so lost without you. You were my bestfriend. I was so blessed to have you as a mother. I know you will always be with me for I am your clone. You blessed me with your laghter and smile.I love you so much and miss you. Tell Tony I kept my promise and took care of you till the very end.

We are so sorry to hear about Kathy. She had been my neighbor for 24 years, and I missed her when she left. For some reason, we lost touch over the years but I kept thinking of her and wanted to catch her on Facebook. 

I'll always remember Kathy as being warm, compassionate and caring as well as very open and funny. We both had something in common in that we lost our children in a train accident. 

I wish we could have attended her service but were unable to. As I look next door, I still think of both of us standing over the fence talking together.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Kathy and I worked together at CNA for many years.  She was a very nice person and always so positive.  I will truly miss her.

Even though I didn't have the chance to meet Kathleen. From what I can read she was a very dear person to many people. I wish the best for her family for their loss

Our prayers and thoughts are with Kathy's family during this difficult time.  My mother and I danced with Kathy at Miss Geri's. She was the sweetest person and a whole lot of fun too! We will miss her.

My deepest sympathy's to the Pollin family.  I worked with Kathy for many years at CNA and will miss her very much.  She was an amazing person and a fantastic friend.  I was very lucky to have known her and will always remember how she put everyone else before herself, no matter what personal challenge she was going through.  She LOVED her family VERY much and talked about them, with love, all the time.  She was truely one of a kind!  Rest in peace Kathy!!!
