

Leonard (Skip) Beau Blackburn, 79, of Chicago, IL, passed away on February 16, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1944, in Helen, WV. Leonard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warm and welcoming personality made him a favorite among all who knew him. Leonard was always willing to lend a helping hand and put the needs of others before his own.
Throughout his life, Leonard found joy in simple pleasures such as mastering the Rubik's Cube, playing Sudoku at an expert level, or sitting on the deck enjoying a Cubs game. He cherished time spent outdoors, whether it was golfing, playing basketball, or enjoying a game of horseshoes with his loved ones. Leonard's family was his greatest treasure, and he was known for being the best host at family gatherings and holidays, always making sure everyone felt welcomed and loved.
Leonard's impact on the lives of those around him was profound. He was a great listener and always made an effort to ensure that new family members felt like they belonged. His delicious deviled eggs were a staple at family gatherings, a small but meaningful symbol of his love and care for those he held dear.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife Kathleen, his sons Scott (Jennifer), Leonard (Maryann), and Joshua (Karen), and his siblings Deanna (Dominick) Marnell, Paul (Orysia), Jeffrey, Anita (Tom) Nowak, Myra (Leonard) Rosas, and Marlene (Bobby) Veleta. He is the dear grandpa to five granddaughters and uncle to many nephews and nieces. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Leonard's memory.
