Manuel (Nico) was born on April 12, 1933 in Trujillo, Peru, the son of Manuel D. and Angelica (nee Caceda) Enriquez. He proudly immigrated to Chicago in 1961 and dedicated over 60 years of craftsmanship and hard work as a Master Upholsterer for a few companies and in a self-owned business. Manuel took great enjoyment in playing & watching soccer and took up tennis later in life. He was an avid fan of his Peruvian national soccer team and also became a fan of all Chicago professional sports teams but mainly the White Sox and Bulls. He also loved travelling and seeing all the places he read about and dreamed about. More than anything else, Manuel’s greatest pride and joy were his children and granddaughters and he loved being able to help his family and friends. Manuel fought his illness with incredible strength and courage. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Manuel is survived by his beloved children Jacqueline and Edward (Jaclyn); his cherished granddaughters Sara and Emma; his loving sister Maria Jugo; and many loving nieces and nephews to whom he was a fond Tio. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Ada Hernandez. He was preceded in death by his wife Idda Henriquez; his parents; his siblings Evelia Ruiz, Carlos Fernando Enriquez, Alicia Martinez, and Paula Mazzotti.
A visitation for Manuel will be held on Monday Jan 26th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday Jan 27th at St Benedict Parish, 2215 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60618. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Idda.
