

Survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Hendryka (Swistak) Aviles. The late ex-husband of Esther Medina. Loving father of Cynthia D. Camacho, Yolanda A. (James) Barbosa, Julia A. (Joseph) Davies, the late Anthony V. Aviles. Loving step-father to Lenea M. (Michael) Smith, Dionna L. (John) Rilling, Edward P. Piotrowski, and Catrina M. Greer.
Loving grandfather to Joseph D. Ramos I, Ashley A. Ramos, Jonathan H. Ramos, Joseph P. Davies, Jessica P. Davies, Anthony N. Davies. Cherished great-grandfather (Grampy) to Joseph D Ramos II, Noa J. Ramos, Kennedy R. Ruskauff.
Fred was the eldest brother and devoted father figure to Gloria (John) Orozco, David (Ana) Aviles. Including a beloved half-brother to many brothers and sisters. Cherished uncle of many nephews and nieces.
Fred retired from Amtrak after 45 years as a Material Controls Manager. He was very proud of working for the railroad and was dedicated to his profession. He was also a fan of many professional sports. But most of all he was proud of his large, loud family.
A visitation for Monserrate will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. A chapel service will follow at 11:30 am at the same location. A burial service will follow at Maryhill Cemetery.
