A lifelong Chicago native, he was born June 27th 1949 in Chicago Illinois to Julia and Francis Prendergast. He is survived by his daughter, Devin Prendergast and ex wife/friend Barbara Prendergast. He is remembered by his sister Kathleen Hall, brother and sister-in-law Tom & Kitty Prendergast, niece Katie Prendergast, and nephew Dylan Prendergast.
He worked for 25 years at Chicago public schools, first as a custodian and then as a Stationary Engineer before retiring in 2015. His true passion however was music. He was a lifelong, soulful musician in many bands. He played and loved blues, jazz, and reggae.
Patrick had a presence in many people’s lives and was truly one of a kind. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He loved coming up with rhymes and riddles, then sharing them via family members voicemails. He had an avid memory of Chicago streets from his days as a cab driver and always knew the fastest routes around the city. He was also known to love poetry, brain teaser puzzles, and a good meal. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming months. To get in touch with the family, please reach out to the funeral home Malec & Sons.
