I am sorry to hear of his passing. Rich was the first friend I made in Morehead, the year I lived there. He was funny, kind and always there if I needed a hand. He helped me bury my beloved Boston terriers, Jasper and Maggie, who got killed Oct. 2009, and for that I was always in his debt. He will be sadly missed. Love, Terri (Smallwood).

So sad to have not known before now. I had been messaging him by phone for a couple of months with no reply and had not known of his passing.  Rich was one of my best friends while I lived in Morehead. We went out to eat many times and he was there to help me bury my beloved dogs when they both got hit by a boat trailer. He was a good friend and kind neighbor. Sadly missed and remembered fondly, Terri (Smallwood).

So many fond memories of Rich, or "Big Sexy", as us gals used to call him! We even took a ride to Kentucky as we missed him in Chicago..Always so much dry humor, compassion, and love poured from him...After watching him consume his standard 5 expresso at Starbucks everyday,We even named a Starbucks drink after him, "The Big Sexy"! Thanks for always being you!

I will miss the phone calls on Mother's day,  showing how big your heart really was! You are already missed dearly! Thank you for always standing by my Mom. We love you Uncle Rich

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Crofton family. Rich had a heart as big as his laugh and will be missed by the many lives he's touched over the years.

Rich, thank you for all the richness you brought to my life  the conversations, your words of wisdom, but mostly the smiles and laughter we shared. Thank you for listening to my dreams and believing in me; supporting me when I needed someone on my side; making the difficult times more bearable. I and my family are very sorry for loss.  Richard  and I were good friends growing up and later we connected again.  Armed with that sly smile and glinting eyes, he always had a joke at the ready;  I always had to be on my toes for I just knew he would be cracking-wise.  Every time we met, and that's every time- we always shared some belly laughs.  Rich never avoided me- he was a good friend.  God Bless.
