I loved this guy.  He always had such an easy going way about him.  And there isn't anything he wouldn't have done for you.  He enjoyed helping people, making their life and their world a little better and a little less difficult and annoying.  His kindness and compassion was always in abundance.

Every so often, he would drop off a CD of various jazz recordings of artists we both enjoyed and admired.  I learned a lot about jazz from him.  He helped me appreciate the artistry and various nuances through the recordings he would give me.  He was like the Harry Bosch of the public sector.  He could have been a DJ with that rich baritone voice of his.

Take care Mr. Degnan.  You will be missed by so many family members and pals you cultivated throughout your life.

Every time I hear a recording by Frank Morgan, I will be reminded of you.  You were always a class act. 





Bob and I went to grammar school together at I.C. and remained friends throughout our lives..Living in North Carolina, I just found out about "slicks" passing..

My condolences.  I worked with Bob at the CTA and although he had a lot of responsibility he always had time for others.  Bob had a young and active mind and was constantly looking for new ways to improve on old practices.  I enjoyed meeting him out for coffee after retirement (I don't know if he ever officially retired) and talking about ways to improve fuel efficiency or what would be the next hot neighborhood in Chicago. 

So sorry for your loss.  Our prayers are with you and your family at this time of sorrow.

Bob was a great friend and fellow commissioner.  I knew I could always count on his support.  He also made Cabinet meetings less painful with his snarky comments. He was a wonderful person and leader.  He will be missed.  Consider this a virtual hug to all his beautiful family.

What a blessing to have grown up with Bobby and all the Degnans. We shared in so many wonderful fun times that I will cherish always. Please know that  I am keeping Bobby and family in my prayers. Dear Degnan family 
I am so sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. He was a good friend and we had planned for more golf, conversation, and cocktails.
I always enjoyed his visits to my office when he came to the store.  We would talk and laugh and reminisce about the neighborhood, life, and our friends and even parents.
He was generous to a fault ( he tipped too much and picked up too many bar tabs). He always remained in good spirits even while going through and recovering from his treatments.  He had a outsized personality and kind soul.  I will miss him very much.  His memory will remain in my heart.

Degnan Family,  sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  My mother use to say he was Mrs. Degnan's  favorite son.  Always had a good time when we were around him.   We will keep him and your family in our prayers.  

One of the greatest friends anyone could have.  I enjoyed his wit and wisdom.  I will miss his advice.
