As felt by anyone who met her, Roberta was the kindest person. Warm, friendly, generous, and fiercely compassionate, she treasured her relationships with family and friends above all else. Her ability to recall names, faces, events and experiences important to her companions created bonds lasting through time. Everyone from the closest of family to the cashier at the grocery store felt how genuine and caring she was.
She worked many years as an executive assistant, so valuable to her employers they wouldn't let her retire. Roberta loved animals, from wildlife to house pets, especially her beloved cat Peaches. Her collection of all things cat was a passion shared with her
niece, down to matching Lil Bub socks. Forty four wonderful years of companionship with her husband Al brought her into his family in Puerto Rico, who were held very dear to her heart.
Roberta is survived by her beloved nephew and niece, Philip Cwikowski and Teresa Cwikowski, her dear sister-in-law Laura Cwikowski, her loving grandson Kenneth Depenbrok, Jr., and many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her late husband Amador Velez (2016), her brother Joseph Cwikowski (2007) and her parents.
A visitation for Roberta will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Queen of Angels Church at Queen of Apostles Parish, 2330 W Sunnyside Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 with a Funeral Mass to start at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Cemetery, Niles, IL where she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband.
