I have such beautiful memories of being a little girl on Estes and having the Collins as our neighbors. I wish that I would've gone around to the back porch on my last visit. I always thought it was so cool to have a fireman living next door.  Just before I learned Mr. Collins passed, I told my students about the day that my bball broke your garage window and how understanding Mr. Collins was. My sincere condolences to the Russell Collins family on his passing. I was fortunate to have worked with Russ on Tower 23 for several years.  A great guy to learn the job from, not to mention Russ always creating gourmet meals in the firehouse kitchen.

Russ was a second father to me as soon as I met him.  He was a warm and gentle man who loved his family and friends.  He was someone you could always count on to help you in any way or to talk to about anything you wanted or needed.  Russ was extremely handy and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need.  I’m so fortunate to have met him and I’m a better person for having known him.  The world is less of place without him.  I mourn the passing of my good friend, Russ Collins.

Mr. Collins was a special man. Each time we met, he engaged with interest, positivity and sincerity.  I can remember his many talents and how he generously helped repair things for Carole, Phil and Chip. When I thought of Mr. Collins in the past, it was always with a smile.
