

Thomas William Lack, 56, of Chicago, passed away from a cardiac arrest on September 18, 2021 at Weiss Memorial Hospital. Tom was born on October 24, 1964 in Rockford, Illinois, to John Edward Lack II and Betty (Kingsbury) Sanders. After graduating from Belvidere High School, Tom studied for an associate degree of music at Rock Valley College in Rockford and received a B.S. Degree in Accountancy at Northern Illinois University. While working in Chicago, he studied and obtained his CPA certification. He married Grace Zhou on March 27, 2004.
He was a kind, gentle and funny soul who was devoted to his wife and family. He and Grace made their home in Chicago and had many friends. Tom loved attending concerts, playing electric/acoustic guitars, traveling and riding his bike along the Lake Michigan with Grace. Tom volunteered for several organizations including Lincoln Park Conservancy and Old Town School of Folk Music. He and Grace attended Harvest Bible Chapel and enjoyed the fellowship with their small groups.
Survivors include wife Grace Zhou Lack, sister Connie (Roger) Foss, brother John (Pam) Lack III. Tom was preceded in death by mother Betty Lack Sanders, father John Lack II, step-father Ernest "Ernie" Sanders and brother Michael Lack. Tom had one nephew Joseph (Cara) Foss, three nieces Sarah (Gary) Vinnitsky, Lindsay (Jeremiah) Smith and Rachel (Mitchel) Messina. He was deeply interested in his numerous great nephews and great niece. Grace's family members were also close to his heart.
The visitation will be held at Drake and Son Funeral Home located at 5303 N Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois on September 29, 2021 between 4PM-8PM. The memorial service will be held at 10 AM on September 30, 2021 followed by a graveside service at Rosehill Cemetery.
Charitable contributions in honor of Tom can be made to American Heart Association.
