Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 6, 1943, Tom lived a life defined by love, curiosity, and service. He was a proud graduate of Loyola University, where he earned a degree in History in 1964, and went on to receive his Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Tom answered the call of duty during the Vietnam War, serving his country overseas as a Captain in the United States Air Force in the late 1960’s. His years of service instilled in him a sense of discipline, integrity, and commitment that he carried throughout his personal and professional life.
Following his military service, Tom built a distinguished career as a writer with organizations such as the Associated Press and The Oil Shale Corporation (TOSCO) before founding his own communications consulting practice, Siebert & Associates. Colleagues knew him as a man of intellect, insight, and generosity.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom found deep joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid badminton player and hiker, he delighted in exploring the beauty of national and state parks. He was a voracious reader, never missing an issue of The New York Times, The Financial Times or The New York Review of Books, and he cultivated a lifelong love of classical music and opera, curating an extensive collection that brought him much joy.
Tom’s greatest source of pride, however, was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 59 years, Rosalie; his son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Danielle; and his cherished grandchildren, Clara and Aidan. He is also survived by his sister, Sue (Bob) Frank, as well as many nieces and nephews. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William Siebert and Evelyn Hilliard, as well as his brothers, Bill, Tim, and Paul.
The family is invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, beginning at 2:00 p.m. A chapel service will follow at St. Adalbert at 3:00 p.m., with interment immediately thereafter.
