Vidal Munoz

Vidal Muñoz Tostado was born on November 3, 1934, in Jalisco, México, one of thirteen children of Matilde Tostado and Benigno Muñoz. In 1958, he made the journey to Chicago, IL, where he worked for more than 40 years in the commercial bakery industry. Through hard work and sacrifice, he gave his family the gift of education, opportunity, and a strong foundation for the future.

No matter how far life took him, Vidal’s heart never left México. Vacations and holidays were spent traveling by plane, train, or automobile to return to his beloved homeland and reconnect with family. He carried both his patria and his family in equal measure, weaving the two together as the center of his life.

Vidal was a man who preserved memories—always with a camera, a tape recorder, or a video in hand, ensuring that family moments would never be lost. At home, he took pride in his garden and flowers, and on his daily walks he greeted every neighbor like an old friend. He loved animals, whether the pets at his side or the livestock on the family farm back in México.

He leaves behind more than memories—he leaves a legacy of love, unity, and tradition.

Vidal is survived by his wife, Esther; his children, Jaime, Rebecca (Chuck), and Eduardo (Veronica); his grandchildren, Daniela and Jesica (Andrew); and his great-grandchildren, Maya and Marcela. He is also survived by his sisters, Trinidad and Lina, along with countless nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished him.

Services will be private, limited to immediate family only. We kindly ask for your understanding as we honor Vidal in a more intimate setting, in consideration of space and the family’s wishes.

Vidal Muñoz Tostado nació el 3 de noviembre de 1934 en Jalisco, México, siendo uno de los trece hijos de Matilde Tostado y Benigno Muñoz. En 1958 emigró a Chicago, IL, donde trabajó por más de 40 años en la industria de panadería comercial. Con esfuerzo y sacrificio, brindó a su familia el regalo de la educación, las oportunidades y una base sólida para el futuro.

Aunque la vida lo llevó lejos, el corazón de Vidal nunca dejó de pertenecer a México. Pasaba las vacaciones y los días festivos viajando en avión, tren o automóvil para regresar a su querida tierra y reencontrarse con sus seres queridos. Llevaba consigo, siempre, tanto a su patria como a su familia, tejiéndolos como el centro de su vida.

Vidal fue un hombre que supo preservar recuerdos: siempre con una cámara, una grabadora o un video en mano, asegurándose de que los momentos familiares jamás se perdieran. En casa, se enorgullecía de su jardín y de sus flores, y en sus caminatas diarias saludaba a cada vecino como a un viejo amigo. Amaba a los animales, desde las mascotas que lo acompañaban hasta el ganado en el rancho familiar en México.

Deja más que recuerdos: deja un legado de amor, unidad y tradición.

A Vidal le sobreviven su esposa, Esther; sus hijos, Jaime, Rebecca (Chuck) y Eduardo (Veronica); sus nietas, Daniela y Jesica (Andrew); y sus bisnietas, Maya y Marcela. También le sobreviven sus hermanas, Trinidad y Lina, junto con numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares que siempre lo quisieron.

Los servicios serán privados, limitados únicamente a la familia inmediata. Agradecemos su comprensión mientras honramos a Vidal en un entorno más íntimo, en consideración al espacio y los deseos de la familia.
