Wanda Tarnowski, 98, passed away at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, IL on March 29, 2024. Born on January 25, 1926, in Wodynie, Poland to parents Maria and Jan Przybyt, Wanda's heart always remained in her motherland, despite immigrating to Chicago in 1965. She was married on April 7th, 1947, to Stanley Tarnowski, who preceded her in death. She was a loving and devoted wife to Stanley and mother to her three children, all boys. She fondly recalled singing soprano in choir as a young woman, and her love of song remained in her final years. Wanda finished trade school and became a brilliant seamstress. After having children she was a homemaker and raised her children for many years. Later on she also worked assembly jobs after immigrating, some of which she thoroughly enjoyed such as electronic circuits assembly at the Hammond Organ Company. She was known for being a wonderful hostess and she loved having guests, including those that stayed for many weeks. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband and making various crafts including crochet, knitting and beaded necklaces. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Constance Church. Her brother Lutek Przybyt and half-brother Jurek Przybyt preceded her death. She is survived by her three beloved sons Thaddeus (Theresa) Tarnowski, Zbigniew (Janina) Tarnowski and Christopher (Zofia) Tarnowski. Wanda's surviving legacy also includes her cherished grandchildren: Sarah Moyer (Joses), Peter Tarnowski, Thomas Tarnowski, Tiffany Tarnowski, Timothy Tarnowski, her great-grandson Julian Moyer, and her half-brother, Romuald Przybyt, living in Poland. Her affection was not limited to her immediate family; Wanda embraced all people, especially children, great-grand nieces and nephews, neighbors, and the many friends she made. Her joyful energy left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Malec Funeral Home on Tuesday April 9th, 4:00-8:00PM and the funeral service will take place at 11:00AM, Wednesday, April 10th at St. Constance Church, Chicago. Following the service, Wanda will be laid to rest at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, IL. A luncheon in her honor will be held at Lone Tree Manor in Niles.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to help cover burial costs (Paypal @theeblueking or Zelle [email protected]) or to Lurie Children’s Hospital https://my.luriechildrens.org/page/43035/donate/1 in Wanda's memory. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
